In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chicago implemented a citywide shared COVID-19 test results data repository in collaboration with the region’s clinical reference laboratories. The initiative facilitated the exchange of COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test data from clinical reference labs to a common repository by leveraging existing Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) technologies.
